The first thing to consider when thinking about creating a poolroom is the space. You need enough space to allow for players to shoot from all sides of the pool table.  Here we help you consider what size room is needed for different-sized pool tables. In essence, the minimum room size is the length of the table plus 2 times the length of the pool cue.  Of course if it’s a man cave you might be okay with "cue dings" in the walls.

Standard pool table sizes are 7 foot, 8 foot, 8 1/2 foot and 9 foot long.

Here is a chart of standard table sizes and suggested room dimensions based on the length of pool cue.

"A" IS AREA REQUIRED FOR UP TO A 48" CUE

"B" IS AREA REQUIRED FOR UP TO A 52" CUE

"C" IS AREA REQUIRED FOR UP TO A 58" CUE

        3 1/2' x 7' Table         4' x 8' Table      4 1/2' x 9' Table
A 11 1/2' x 14 1/2' A 12' x 16' A 12 1/2' x 16 1/2'
B 12' x 15' B 12 1/2' x 16 1/2' B 12' x 17'
C 13' x 16' C 13 1/2' x 17 1/2' C 14' x 18'

And if all else fails you can use a 36 inch long "shorty cue".
